Make Firefox Do Things Your Way

Firefox is a powerful tool. There is a way to tweak it to do all sorts of things. The basics of this involve using about:config. This lets you change how FireFox does certain things.

  1. Start Firefox.
  2. Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter. You will see a warning screen. Click the I’ll be careful, I promise button
  3. You will see a long list of hidden settings that look strange, meaningless and confusing.
  4. about-config.jpg

When tweaking Firefox, sometimes you will have to add a new setting and at other times you will have to change an existing setting. Don't be intimidated. It isn't as complicated as it looks. To create a new setting right click on any existing setting and select “New”.

Getting Info on Firefox Plugins

To get information about all the plugins installed in FireFox, type "about:plugins" into the address bar. This will open a fireFox internal page with details on every plugin. This includes DLL files too.
