This is a component for electronic software download. It is installed by some Adobe products. It isn't harmful but isn't necessary either. Getting rid of it will not hurt either. If you want to buy something from Abobe, they will find a way to make that happen. And no missing plugin is going to get in their way.

Getting Info on Firefox Plugins

To get information about all the plugins installed in FireFox, type "about:plugins" into the address bar. This will open a fireFox internal page with details on every plugin. This includes DLL files too.
