About a year ago we hosted the first New Tech Community meeting in Boca Raton.  We had 38 people show up to the first event.  The idea was to have an event where technical individuals and those intersted in technology businesses could meet in an informal environment.  We wanted to build a community where anyone could contribute and anyone could learn.  We wanted bloggers, entrepreneurs, advertisers, developers, and anyone else who would be interested.

The first meeting was a resounding success.  Since then we have seen relationships be formed.  People helping people with their technical challenges.  We have learned about different types of businesses and how they function.

What is great about this event is that it isn't a bunch of techies talking jargon.  This is a broad based meeeting and attract all sorts of people.  I met a personal trainer who sells DVDs online.  She was there to learn how to better use blogs and other web technologies to improve her business.
